Lipsticks and glosses are a great way to give your face that touch of fall, and B Cosmetics from Heylee B makes that possible! Heylee has gone through her collection of amazing lipsticks and shines and picked out her 4 must-have colors for this fall.

Iced Violet :: This light purple, toned luxury lipstick is perfect for everyday use. It's not overpowering or too bright, so it plays more like a lipgloss than a lipstick. This color goes great with almost every outfit and for any occasion because of its perfect tiny pop of color for your face. You would definitely want to keep this one in your purse at all times!

Impulse :: A red lip is never out of style! This red is the only red that you will ever need. With its slightly blue undertone, it goes with every skin color and is the perfect stand-out color for every day.

Pink Truffle :: A pinky-nude is another shade that can be worn anytime by almost every skin type. Nude lipsticks and lip shines have been popular for some time because of their barely-there look. Women who want to add a slight bit of color without looking like they are covered in lipstick love these types. But nudes can wash out your face and actually make you look worse. So by adding in this shade to your repertoire, you can get away with looking flawless and not overdone.

Plum Royale :: This is Heylee's favorite new color for the fall! (And mine!) It is just purple enough and just pink enough that it makes a statement for every skin type. Because of its plum color, it easily says "fall". So if you want to expand your fashion-sense, or just want to amp up your style for special occasions, this is the statement maker!

]]> 2014-09-08T07:00:28-05:00 2014-09-08T07:00:28-05:00 The "No Make-up" Make-up Tutorial Kate Harris It happens to all of us. We are either rushing out the door, up too early (and running too late), or we are out of a key item in our make-up bag forcing us to do a quick once-over on our face to make us not look like the walking dead.

But how do you get that amazing no make-up make-up look?

Is it simple?

Make-up artist Heylee Achten has done it once again by giving us the 1-2-3 on this relatively quick and simple way to get out the door in less time and still look great.

Remember this pic? This would be Heylee on a 5am flight for work, but she definitely doesn't look like I usually do at 5am! (Way jealous!)

So here is how she gets that great look ::

1. Start your day off with a clean face. Not only should you always be doing this for the health of your skin, but it will make you feel like a million bucks, especially if a shower is a long way off.

2. Add foundation. Take a tiny drop of foundation, put on your hand, and blend it on your t-zone. (It's the space from your forehead to your chin) Brush out to all the areas of your face, blending well. This will even out your skin tone, giving it that "fresh" look. If you have any trouble areas under your eyes, a little bit of concealer can cover up pretty well. Heylee typically uses a light-cover so her skin isn't too made up. (Heylee uses B Cosmetics Liquid Foundation in "Tender Beige".)

3. Bronzer. This is what gives you that "I'm awake" look on your skin. Highlight you cheeks and you won't look so sallow and sleepy. (B Cosmetics Bronzer in "Safari")

4. Fill in brows. Your brows shape your face, and if you aren't already filling them in and giving them some life, then this is the perfect time to start. Fresh, full brows brighten your eyes and pull your face together. (Heylee uses the "Blonde" brow duo from B Cosmetics)

5. Add mascara. No need for anything other than the mascara, because let's be honest...this is about getting by without looking like the Grim Reaper. If you just have to have eyeliner, knock yourself out. Just make sure it's lightly added.

6. Lipshine. There is no reason to be rocking your full red lips (unless you're Gwen Stefani). A little light lipstick with a shine with a tint will be all you need. This gives the color back to your mouth, and completes the look. (Heylee is wearing B Cosmetics in "Sugar Pie")

7. Feel amazing! Now that you've done this, head out the door and greet the world! You will notice that your confidence level goes up and you feel like a new person! That's a good thing! There's nothing better than feeling fresh even when you don't feel like you're 100% awake.

If you have any other questions, or there's something you'd like for Heylee to give a tutorial on, let us know! This is the perfect place to voice your opinions and even share some secrets yourself!

]]> 2014-09-02T07:30:02-05:00 2014-09-02T07:30:02-05:00 8 Wedding Day Make-up Tips Kate Harris Every girl dreams of her big day being simply perfect and flawless. Not only that, but we dream of ourselves being perfect and flawless. We book the perfect venue, hire the best photographer, buy the perfect dress, and are marrying the perfect man. But you know what's crazy? So many brides make major beauty mistakes either out of forgetfulness or lack of knowledge.

So we have compiled 8 beauty tips for your wedding day make-up so you can look like the girl you dreamed you would!

 1. Avoid Shimmer! It's perfectly acceptable for your dress (and your finger) to have the bling. But be careful when it comes to adding shimmer make-up to your face. Instead, go for a simple, classic look that is more toned down. Shimmer powders and lotions tend to add glare to your photos, making you look overdone and with the wrong kind of glow. It's okay to add a little pearly to your eyes, but take it easy.
 2. Wax Early. No girl enjoys unruly eyebrows at any point, for any reason, so your wedding day definitely wouldn't be any different. But don't make the mistake of having your brows done too close to your big day. Instead of the day of or the day before, get your brows waxed by a professional 3 days prior to your wedding day. This will give your skin a break and help any redness and swelling to be completely gone. And if there are any strays, which there shouldn't be in just 3 days, just pluck them out the night before!
 3. Don't get vampy. You want to be dreamy and glamorous on your wedding day because it's a special day and it will be immortalized in pictures. But this does not mean that you should have your make-up done up to look like Honey Boo-Boo's. You should still look like you! You want to be able to look back at those photos in 5-10 years and not wonder, "What was I thinking?" Go for stunning but still classy and understated. You won't regret it.
 4. Use Falsies. We are talking eyelashes here! To give your eyes the best chance of making a statement and standing out, wear flash lashes. They can give you volume and length, making your eyes really pop. Plus, this is a great way to amp up your style without going too far over the top. Just make sure to either have someone do them for you who is familiar with false lashes, or practice a few times before your big day. This will help you avoid a mess and frustration.
 5. Don't be Stingy. It's extremely easy for the camera to wash you out (as well as indoor lighting), making your skin look dull and colorless. So don't be afraid of things like spray tans, and a little extra blush to help make you look fresh instead of sallow. Be careful not to overdo it, but just be aware that a little more than normal is okay.
 6. No SPF! Unless your wedding is outside on the beach in the middle of the day, don't use moisturizer or foundation that has SPF in it. Most people don't realize that SPF turns your skin more white in photos because of its protective layer.
 7. Veil = No Gloss. If you have opted to wear a veil, even if it will just trail behind you, avoid wearing lip gloss. All it takes is one gush of wind or wrong movement, and that veil will stick to your lips like glue, transferring your colored lips to your white outfit. It can also smear and leave a sticky, hard to remove, residue on your skin.
 8. Waterproof Mascara. It seems like a no-brainer, but you'd be surprised how many women overlook this detail as they get ready. The last thing on their mind as they are getting prepped is whether or not their mascara will run if they cry (and you's a fact). Don't make this major mistake because otherwise you will have black streaks on your face and possibly on your beautiful white gown.

Hopefully these 8 steps are helpful to you as you prepare for your big day!! If you want to go the extra step, see a make-up pro (we suggest just hiring one) so they can show you different looks and shades for your skin. Then there are no surprises when you're in the moment, and you can just relax, be beautiful, and marry your love!

]]> 2014-08-21T08:00:35-05:00 2014-08-21T08:00:35-05:00 Defining "Beautiful" Kate Harris It seems like such a cliche question.

What is the definition of beautiful?

But I think that we ask ourselves this question on a daily basis. We wonder if it's defined by the clothes that we wear, or the way our makeup looks, or the cut and style of our hair. We wonder if it's the size and shape of our bodies.

I am a believer that true beauty, the kind that lasts and stands out, is found in something so much deeper.

Beautiful is when you put someone before yourself.

Beautiful is when you are patient in chaos.

Beautiful is when you love deeply and selflessly.

Beautiful is how you must choose to see yourself.

When you find yourself standing in front of the mirror, changing clothes for the umpteenth time, stop. Take a breath. Remember that you are beautiful whether old or young, tall or short, thick or thin. It will take guts to tell yourself that you are beautiful and to block out all the negative swirling in your head.

What do you currently believe about yourself, but want to change? Where do you struggle? How can you remind yourself that you are not defined by the world around you?

Be brave. Tell us. When you say negative things out loud, the grip they have on you loosens...making room for new, positive things.

]]> 2014-08-18T07:30:13-05:00 2014-08-18T07:30:13-05:00 Heylee B Tip On The Go! Kate Harris When Heylee Achten isn't busy making her online store amazing (or doing make-up, or styling someone, or at a photo get the picture. She's busy!), she travels full-time with her brother, Harris III. Harris is an award-winning illusionist who travels all over the world with his show, and when his wife came off the road to raise their son, Heylee headed out! She did travel with him for years as a kid, so she was groomed to be on the road.

As she hits the road and the air, she has found little tips and tricks to keep herself looking great for so much less. One such trick is for pesky, oily skin.

Because Heylee often has to spend long hours sitting in the car or trudging through airports, she has to go from place to place ready to go and made-up. This can leave her already oily skin even more greasy thanks to sweat and long days.

Her quick fix? Don't spend tons on those tiny little oil-sucking sheets that you can carry in your purse, just use a toilet seat cover!

I know what you're thinking...are you kidding? That sounds so gross!

Trust me when I say it isn't! Looks crazy, but it works! The paper used in those bathroom stall toilet seat covers is the same as those tiny, expensive sheets that come in that pack. And toilet seat covers are free!

Just use the same way, blotting gently (never rub) to soak up excess oil from your skin. It will leave you looking clear and not greasy!

So take a tip from the pro and keep your skin looking amazing all day for free!

]]> 2014-08-11T07:00:00-05:00 2014-08-11T21:00:46-05:00 4 Tips & Tricks On Foundation From Make-up Pro Heylee Achten! Kate Harris Now that Heylee B has brought you B Cosmetics, some of you have been asking questions about our mineral foundation. So we are taking a moment to let you know 4 things about what our foundation is and why/how you should wear it.

What is a liquid powder foundation?

A liquid powder foundation is simply a liquid foundation (ours is more creamy) that is applied to your face, leaving you left with a powder finish. You won't look greasy or streaky, just fresh and clean. There is no extra powder application needed with this type of foundation. Is also doesn't leave your face feeling cakey or over made. It's super light leaving your face feeling as if you have no makeup on at all! (Which we all love, right?!) You can, however, layer your foundation, which means that after it dries, if you feel as though you don't have an even look or have spots to be covered, you can add small layers on top of the existing. But you're still left with a fresh, clean feeling.

How do I apply liquid powder foundation?

Heylee's favorite way to apply this type of foundation is with a foundation brush. Some apply if with a small sponge or with their fingers. Heylee says that using a foundation brush will give you an even, streak-free look.

Heylee's trick?

Take a small amount of the foundation squeezed onto the back of you hand, like a painters' palette.

Then, using your brush, apply to nose, cheeks, forehead, and chin, blending outward.

{{Here is a pic of Heylee before putting on foundation}}

Once blended, make sure to add a little to your jawline and neck! Her mantra? Blend, Blend, Blend!! Don't want to look like you put a mask on!

{{Here is Heylee after applying foundation and mascara}}

I currently wear powder foundation? Do you not use powder at all?

We chose a liquid powder instead of a plain powder or plain liquid because of its versatility on all skin types. Heylee told us,

"I have too many make-up clients who sit in my chair who wear powder foundation, leaving their skin looking dull and flat. Using this liquid powder will give a fresh, dewey look, leaving your face with a youthful glow instead of a dull and dried out look."

Heylee also mentioned that because her skin is on the oily side, powder has a tendency to stick to those super oily spots and flake off over the day. With this foundation, she can get the perfect blend for her skin.

How do I know that I have the right color for my skin?

When you apply foundation to your skin, you want to see it "disappear" on your face. What that means is that when you apply, you shouldn't see an obvious color difference between your skin and the foundation. If it's too light, where you applied will be overly white. If it's too dark, your skin will look slightly orange.

Heylee's trick?

Apply a small amount (on a clean face) to your forehead, blending out. If you can't tell a difference, it's a match! She also suggests re-evaluating your skin tone 3-4 times a year as exposure to sun (or non-exposure) can change the hue. She will keep 3 different shades in her kit because her skin color is fluctuating. Not quite dark enough for the next shade? Stay a shade below what you are, and add a little bronzer to bring the warmth into your skin.

If you have any questions about your skin, what foundation is right for you, or where to start, feel free to ask your question in the comments below or by sending an email to Heylee directly at We love to make sure that you have the perfect look for not just your wardrobe, but your skin!

]]> 2014-08-07T08:00:49-05:00 2014-08-07T08:00:49-05:00 7 Top Trends for Fall 2014 Kate Harris Fall is just around the corner, and new looks are calling for attention! As designers sent models down the runway, there were a few trends that stood out to us, and we want to share them with you! We know that some will appeal to you and some won't, but now is your chance to stand out and push your closet just a little!

Robe Coats :: We love this! These coats are loose, wrap around your body, and are totally chic. They can be dressed up for a night out, but still worn loose with jeans and a scarf. Don't be afraid to embrace the robe coat this fall/winter!

Novelty Prints :: We aren't sure who doesn't love a great print, and taking it way out of the box are novelty prints. They are whimsical, fun, and flirty. While you don't have to wear that print head to toe, we would encourage a couple stand-out pieces that you can wear with anything.

Knits :: Nothing says "classic" more than knits. These are rarely out of style, and come in every size, shape, color, and style. Wear them with everything. They make a great closet staple that can be worn almost year-round.

Scandinavian :: We have seen amazing printed leggings and sweaters for a few years, but now is the time to embrace your inner Swede! Leggings are the easiest way to add that super fun Scandinavian style to your closet. Just pair them with your favorite knit sweater and great boots and you're set!

Dresses over pants :: We know that this trend will be more of a stretch for some. But we think it's a great way to take some of those great tunics you bought for summer and carry them through the year. You can pair short or long dresses with everything from skinny jeans to Dickies, it's your call!

Cowboy :: Living in Nashville, we find this trend perfect! There are so many great things about true country style, so find your inner Carrie Underwood and pair those fringe boots you already have with some great country prints! Don't be afraid of the big hats as well...they are always a plus and great statement piece.

Turtlenecks :: These are not your 1987-style turtlenecks. These are high-fashion must-haves that come in many shapes and sizes. They are great to wear on their own, but are even better for layering. Consider this a staple, and don't be afraid to wear it many different ways.

Heylee B will be bringing in some great fashion for this fall, so watch for these trends to hit our racks soon!

]]> 2014-07-31T16:43:00-05:00 2014-08-01T09:19:03-05:00 Introducing B. Cosmetics! Kate Harris We are so excited to announce that Lustatotenterrara is now carrying B. Cosmetics! This new cosmetic line will be bringing you the best in foundations, eye color, lip shades, and blush.

The foundation is mineral-based and talc-free and will be available in multiple shades. It is a liquid foundation that is seriously amazing! It goes on smooth and dries quickly to a powder-like feel. What's even more amazing about this foundation is the price! It will be available for around $28, which is a steal for this top of the line stuff.

Bronzers are available as a matte and the other one has a hint of shimmer. They come in a pressed powder form. Bronzer is a great way to keep that sun-kissed look year-round. And with these fun zebra and leopard prints, you're sure to love them!

There will be 4 shades of blush to bring the color to your cheeks: natural, coral, plum, and a pink berry. Each one will also come as a pressed, mineral-based powder that will go on your face leaving you looking fresh and bright. Heylee's favorite blush, and a must-have for her bag is the plum. She says you'd never know it, but it looks amazing on almost every skin type!

Eyeshadows will be available in matte, mineral-matte, and polychromatic shades. Each shadow will be available individually, which gives you the ability to mix-and-match the shades that you love and build your own eye shadow palette. Because each shadow has a magnetic bottom, they can be put together into a magnetic palette. No being stuck with a color that you don't love ever again!

Last, but not least, are the lipsticks. There will be tons of shades for you to choose from that will go great with every style you choose and every skin tone. The one that Heylee is never without? The hot red color "Impulse"! And at $14, you can get a couple!

We are so excited to bring this amazing new line to you, and if you aren't sure about colors, Heylee would be willing to send you samples so you can make sure you have the right one! Because of her training, she is also willing and available on a limited basis to set up appointments with you to give the once-over and show you all the stuff that goes best with your skin color. Just email her at to set up an appointment or ask her a question!

]]> 2014-07-28T08:00:20-05:00 2014-07-28T08:00:20-05:00 5 Ways to Take Your Summer Wardrobe Into Fall Kate Harris It can be a little discouraging to look into your closet and see summer clothes filling your hangers as fall peeks around the corner.

"How in the world am I supposed to wear that summer maxi when it gets cold?"

"Short skirts won't work right?"

"Please tell me that the 4 pairs of shorts I bought won't collect dust!"

Have no fear! We have 5 ways that you can wear those summer clothes into the fall, no problem! (Plus save money because you don't have to buy new! Woot woot!!) We are showing you below some of the clothes that are great to pair with what is popular this fall. If you don't already have these year-round threads, be sure to get them before they are gone!

 • Leather jackets :: This is a must have for every closet. Black would be our go-to color since it goes with everything, but a nice caramel brown is not a bad choice either. You can spend hundreds on nice leather or less than $30 on synthetic, so don't be afraid to get creative with your budget. Remember that amazing maxi or jumper that you bought? Pair it with a leather jacket, a cute pair of booties, and a scarf and voila! An amazing, and much warmer, fall look without breaking the bank! (Get To It Jumper & Midnight Tide Dress)

 • Tights or leggings :: Again, a must-have because they go with everything! Pair leggings with any tunic, layering with a sweater or jacket (especially if it's short sleeved) and throw on boots to keep your toes warm. Have a shorter skirt or even shorts? Put on a pair of fun tights and wear them! Don't be shy! (Floral Frenzy Tunic & Traveler Leggings)

 • Sweaters :: You probably have a few of these in your closet already. They are the best layering piece that you could possibly have in your closet. They can go over a dress, or tank with jeans. Get colors, get them in different lengths, and pair with everything! (Hello 1990 Tank & What Did The Fox Say Tank)

 • Boots :: Even though you can get creative with sweaters and jackets once the heat outside fades into beautiful fall weather, the sandals will have to go. Boots are where it's at! Get them in ankle booties and knee high for variety. They pair well with jeans, leggings, and skirts. Get them in different shades, and leather is most durable. Don't be afraid to spend a little more on these since they can be worn year-round and last for a while. (Take A Trip Skirt)

 • Scarves :: Scarves have been in style for quite some time, and their versatility cannot be denied. They are both fashionable and functional. Get them in different styles, lengths, and fabrics. Layer them with tanks, dresses, and even long sleeves. Don't be afraid to mix patterns and styles either. (Stopping For Ice Cream Kimono & Casual Friday Top)

]]> 2014-07-20T19:48:00-05:00 2014-07-20T20:05:09-05:00 Jessica's Coconut Oil Facial Cleanse Kate Harris There is a major fad going on with coconut oil and it's a gooood thing! Not only does coconut oil have amazing health benefits internally, but there are tons externally. I know the idea of rubbing oil all over your face doesn't sound very appealing, but coconut oil actually helps to reduce acne and blemishes! It’s loaded with Vitamin E, fatty acids, and a natural moisturizer. It’s anti-fungal, anti-oxidizing, anti-bacterial, and won’t change the PH balance of your skin. It's loaded with antioxidants and leaves your skin silky smooth!

I am always turned off by conventional facial cleansers due to the toxicity and overwhelming amount of harmful chemicals they contain. This is an amazing solution to truly cleansing your skin!

You can easily leave this as a simple coconut oil cleanse or you can use essential oils to add even more nourishment and repair your skin.

Today’s recipe for face cleaning:

Organic Coconut Oil (Must be organic

Wet warm cloth

Dry soft cloth

Essential oils of choice. I am using

Start by using a warm, wet cloth and place a dab (or spread) on your face to open the pores.

Take a small amount of coconut oil, 3-5 drops of Frankincense essential oil, and gently massage into your skin for about 30 seconds.

Wait about 15-30 seconds and then use your washcloth lightly to remove additional oil. Don’t rub hard!

Your skin will absorb most of the oil, but you can also use a dry, soft cloth or towel, and gently dab on different areas of your face.

If you have any problem areas, like pimples or blemishes, you can use a few drops of melaleuca

and lavender to calm redness and help clear the skin.

This is a wonderful daily solution to beautiful, clean skin!

If you'd like more info on doTerra essential oils, or to order, get them from Jessica! Check out her website here!

The stakes are high, and the majority of us fall short. You feel as though you're in an endless vortex of advertisements and magazine photos of celebrities who seemingly always look the picture of perfection, and you cringe because you think that could never be you. Your insecurities are high, creeping in to steal your joy.

You may tell yourself that you like who you are and don't care what other people think, but in the same breath you are untagging yourself in Facebook photos and taking dozens of selfies until you get just the right angle that makes you look angular and thin. You spend more time than necessary trying on outfits before you head out the door, picking the one that makes you look the thinnest. I know that I'm guilty of that on an almost daily basis. I hate to be in front of the camera at events, opting to be the photographer so that I don't have to "ruin" the photos that I might want to share later. It sounds extreme...but that's because it is. We have bought the lies that have been sold to us about ourselves, hook, line and sinker. Think about it. How often do you genuinely find yourself wishing you looked like her, had her wardrobe, or her tan? I'm guessing it's often. It is for me. And that's a problem.

I am a 31-year-old mother of a now 9-month-old son. I was thin and in great shape once upon a time, but after marriage and years of yo-yo dieting and binge workouts, I found myself pregnant and the weight creeping up to a record high. (Yes it was baby weight, but that didn't matter) After giving birth I was focused and ready to shed the pounds, but found those last 15-20 sticking around. I was devastated. I felt uncomfortable in anything but maternity and loose clothing. I was embarrassed to even see the photos of my son and I. A crappy place to find myself.

If I was totally honest with you, I will probably never be satisfied with the way that I look. My body will never be the same, and I will never be considered the perfect specimen of a mother (like the way the media thinks of the likes of Kim Kardashian), and I have to be okay with that. I am still allowed to have goals for myself in health and wellness, but I need to let go of the desire to look like so-and-so, or be like so-and-so. The sea of deception is a deep one, and it's so easy to find ourselves with our heads barely above the water. So today, I will no longer believe the deception that I have bought about myself. I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and though there are places in my life that could be made healthier for my family and I, I need to be happy with who I am and what I look like today. I embrace this new body of mine and I won't be afraid of the words "extra large" or "plus size". Just because the world has a stereotype and stigma attached to those words, I will not allow them to steal my joy.

I am with those of you who hate to shop because nothing that you love seems to fit just right or look the way you wished. But I encourage you to take a good look in the mirror and smile at the reflection staring back. You could use it. Remember that you are you, and though everyone should take the steps to live a healthier life, you need to love yourself. Don't buy the lies that you have to be a certain weight or wear a certain size in order to be happy and accepted. People love you just the way you are!

And just because I'm sure your is a pic of me with the heartbeat of my life, Jude, and as your Heylee B "extended size" model (not my day job!!)

Kate and Jude just hanging out at home!

]]> 2014-06-02T10:06:00-05:00 2014-06-02T10:06:50-05:00 What in the world is a NikiBiki? Kate Harris In my closet there are a couple of staples:

 1. Jeans: skinnies, boot cut, boyfriend, ankle cut, distressed and dark wash.
 2. Sweatshirts: zip-up, hoodie, athletic, and every variety in between.
 3. Tanks/camis: white, nude, black, gray, green, navy, purple, and orange.

All of these things I wear regularly, and I don't mind having multiples of. I like them in all styles and cuts. They go with everything.

Tanks and cami's are one of the things that I most diligent about keeping in my closet since I wear them pretty much every day. I wear them on their own, under shirts a little too sheer, and with kimonos and cardigans. I like them in every length. Their versatility is what makes them so great! But one of the things I hate is when they ride up or they are too short. But then I found a NikiBiki.

What in the world is a NikiBiki you might ask? It's an amazing cami that is designed to specifically battle not riding-up and rolling over the course of your day. Plus, they are made of a super soft material that breathes...unlike so many of their cotton counterparts. My favorite are the extra long tanks that I wear with leggings and under maxi's. (They hide your butt and help to slim) The regular length cami's and tanks are also not too short...something that tends to drive me nuts! NikiBiki changed everything about the way I bought and wore tanks, and I won't wear anything else! They are simply the best.

If you are a tank and cami wearer, and are looking for that perfect one, look no further! The NikiBIki that we carry at Lustatotenterrara will be the only one that you'll ever want to wear. (Can be found in our "Intimates" section.) Be sure to get yours today!!

]]> 2014-05-26T08:00:17-05:00 2014-05-26T08:00:17-05:00 Pretty In Polish Kate Harris When it comes to nail polishes, you fall into 1 of 3 categories.

1. You paint your nails in a regular routine, meticulously matching each shade to your outfits.

2. You paint your nails on occasion, but wait until the paint has completely chipped off (or scraped off) until you consider another shade.

3. Paint my nails?

No matter where you find yourself, there's something to be said about perfectly manicured nails painted in beautiful shades to enhance a look. This is especially true in the summer, when both our hands and our feet our on regular display. Here are some of the hottest colors and styles that are sure to sizzle this summer!

The most classic color on the market is a true red from O.P.I. The shade we use the most is "Big Apple Red". This color is a classic because it is the most commonly worn nail color, and it is appropriate for any occasion and any person. We also love that it goes with pretty much everything in our closet! There are ways to jazz up this everyday favorite. One of our favorite ways it to add a little bit of glitter polish to go on just 1 or 2 fingers as an accent.

A less bold look than red, this blush/nude is a very subtle polish that pairs well with every look because it blends into your natural nail and skin color so well. We chose O.P.I.'s "Chillin' Like A Villian". Because of the subtlety of this color, adding a pop of color, print, or glitter gives it a little glam. There are tons of glitter polishes, but we chose O.P.I. Rose of Light since it had more of the pink and gold tones that went well with this polish. It also looks amazing on its' own!

If you like to stand out and push the fashion envelope farther than a simple red nail, we love some of the new colors from last fall and this spring. There are yellows, blues, purples, and greens that really make a statement. We love wearing O.P.I.'s "Thanks a Windmillion". This color is similar to a robin's egg blue. Because it's such a soft color, this is an easy transition color if you are typically a pink or red kinda girl.

After putting on any polish, always finish off with a top coat. This will help give your polish a longer lifespan. It also helps give it that ultra-gloss finish that we can't get enough of! There are tons of top coats out there that boast a quick-dry that aren't all that quick. However, we found one that lives up to it's fast-drying claim: Out The Door super fast drying top coat for nails. It actually dries super fast! And for someone who's always on-the-go, this is essential!

]]> 2014-05-19T08:00:47-05:00 2014-05-19T08:00:47-05:00 How to Host A Heylee B Trunk Show Kate Harris Shopping online can be intimidating. From not really knowing what clothes feel like, to not really not knowing how those clothes would fit on your body, to the daunting task of returning any items that aren't up to par, we know online shopping is not for everyone. That's why Heylee B has created opportunities for you to shop in person with all your friends!

Ever since Heylee moved her small boutique from a brick and mortar storefront to an online store, she has always offered to bring her amazing clothes and accessories right to you. She started out bringing clothes to family functions, then to the parking lot of Sam's Club so people could shop out of her car, finally finding regular locations in salons and homes around the Nashville area. The ability to pop-up and shop has always been successful for Heylee since she is able to move around and meet people where they are.

Hosting one of these pop-up & shop events is simple! Here are a couple options that you can choose from:

You can host a traditional Trunk Show where you invite all of your friends, have food and drinks, and hang with your girlfriends while Heylee gives styling tips and you get to try everything on. As a hostess, you receive 20% off your entire purchase, and there can be drawings and giveaways for those who attend. Also, the more your guests buy, the more discounts you get as a hostess! We ask that there be a minimum of 10 people in attendance, and we only travel within 90 min of Downtown 28000 Chartres, TN.

If you are a small business owner, such as a salon or coffee shop, you can have Heylee bring her racks to your store for a specific amount of time. Then, everyone who comes through your store can browse and shop. This has been wildly successful for both Heylee and each small business since traffic is driven into your store and it's very low pressure. We can also have a regular day or days each month that we come hang at your space! Her most successful locations are salons. Business owners who bring Heylee in and receive 40% off one item. The more people come and purchase, the more discounts you can receive!

Our newest option is the Open House. We have had a couple of these already and people love them! As a host, you literally open up your house to friends, family, and local Heylee B customers to come and go over a certain amount of time. This is much more low-key for both the hostess and all her guests since there's less pressure to show up and entertain. These are completely customizable as well. We have had afternoon soirees outside, evening swing-by and shop with us, and are talking of a pool party! The hostess of these events receive 20% off their entire purchase, plus the more people purchase at your open house, the more discounts you can acquire! There is no minimum on attendance, and we will travel within 90 min of Downtown 28000 Chartres.

If you are interested in having Heylee bring the shopping to you, please let us know so we can get you on our already very full calendar! Just contact Heylee at to set up an event of your choice! They are so much fun (because who doesn't love to shop?!), and it's a great way to meet new people!

]]> 2014-05-12T08:00:32-05:00 2014-05-12T08:00:32-05:00 Coconut Oil Hair Treatment Tutorial Kate Harris We've all heard about the amazing properties that coconut oil has and all the different ways that it can be used. You can cook with it, use it to alleviate stretch marks while pregnant, aid eczema, help with your teeth (oil pulling), and put it in your hair to battle dry hair and scalp. It's an amazing, product that should be a pantry, and maybe even bathroom) staple.

Back in January, Heylee did a test on the coconut hair treatment to help her dry scalp. She had already re-trained her to need less washing with harsh soaps by a combo of only washing it twice a week and using dry shampoo in-between washes. She loved the results so much, that she now uses coconut oil each night before she washes her hair to help lock in moisture.

This is a great process that can be used on any type of hair. We encourage you to try it out for yourself using this simple process.

Use 1/4 cup of organic coconut oil heated to warm. (We love the stuff from Whole Foods) Give your hair a quick brush to eliminate tangles.

Heylee Likes to start at the ends of her hair (where the majority of damage is found), and work the oil in using her fingertips

Because Heylee is using this treatment to help battle a dry scalp, she spends a couple of minutes massaging the oil into the roots of her hair and her scalp. To make it easier, she typically pours the remaining oil into this area and works it all around

Once her hair is thoroughly coated with the oil, she uses her fingers to pull her hair up to the top of her head, and uses a soft elastic band to secure it in place. (She sleeps in this treatment, and this helps keep the oil off of her skin). As added help to the heat, she places a heated towel (pop it in the dryer on high-heat while you do the process) around her hair and lets it keep her head warm for about 20 min.

The next morning, she simply washes out the oil using a gentle, organic shampoo and conditioner, sometimes shampooing twice to avoid greasy hair. She's left with beautiful, soft hair that lasts for days!

As an added help to her hair, she will occasionally add doTerra Geranium and Frankincense essential oils to her coconut oil. Both aid in dry skin and have antibacterial properties. (There are different oils for different types of hair, so make sure to check which one would be best for you if you want to add these to your treatment)

]]> 2014-05-09T08:05:00-05:00 2014-05-09T08:07:39-05:00 FFF Kate Harris When we were sent this entry for our Fashion Fail Friday, we had no words. We still have no words other than ladies, meet Amy.

In her subject line, she titled this "Purple Awesomeness". words.

Amy today is one of the most beautiful and talented women that I know. She is wife to Matt, and mom to Nyah. She is an artist in everything. From a talented painter and writer, to a fantastic baker, to a makeup artist/stylist for the likes of Jeremy Cowart at Hope Portrait. I love calling her "friend", and I'm so excited for her to win our Fashion Fail! She clearly deserves it!

Here's a more recent, and less purple, photo of Amy.

While doing these fashion fails, we want to make it clear that it's okay to laugh at bad fashion (it's kind of hard not to laugh)...but understand that fashion is not a definition of beauty. You are beautiful on the inside. You are beautiful in your attitudes and character. You are beautiful as you share your life with family and friends. You are beautiful in your vulnerability. What's considered "fashionable" will wax and wane faster than the moon, so don't find your identity in it. It's temporary. You are beautiful as you...not as the clothes you once wore.

]]> 2014-05-01T23:18:38-05:00 2014-05-01T23:18:41-05:00 #FFF Kate Harris When we started out Fashion Fail Fridays, we were so excited to give everyone the opportunity to win $25 to take themselves shopping at Lustatotenterrara We expected to be flooded with entries, and have honestly been surprised by the lack of interest in winning money! Now, this is saying two things.

1. It's really easy to win.

2. We are thinking you guys take yourself too seriously!

We want this to be fun, entertaining, and a place where you can let yourself be free! And we want you to WIN!!!

So, this week, we had one entry from Samantha Carter. We are in love with both pictures that she sent to us, and couldn't decide on just one. So we will post them both! From the jean dress with the stripe down the side (sort of like track pants), to the epic floral print dress with matching hat, we loved these!! You look amazing in both of these photos, and we can all relate to the looks of the 90s.

As an added bonus, we wanted to show a great picture of Heylee B owner, Heylee Achten. I mean seriously, who doesn't love the all one color sweatsuit with giant cat decal on it? We think she looks adorable totally going vogue in this photo as well. A true fashionista!

Make sure to not miss out on winning some money towards your wardrobe! Send us your fashion fail photos to so we can add them to the cue! As of now, your chances of winning are very good!

]]> 2014-04-29T07:36:54-05:00 2014-04-29T07:36:55-05:00 Ooh La Lashes Kate Harris You've seen them. You envy them. Thick, long, impeccable lashes that always look red-carept worthy. Many times when we see such flawless lashes, we can't help but wonder if they're even real. More often than not, they aren't, and many of these "falsies" are of the glued-on variety and can be found at places like Target, Walmart, and CVS in the beauty section. You simply find a length and fill that you like, and is appropriate for why you're wearing them, and you just apply them with a sticky adhesive that peels off at the end of the night. However, if you hate the idea of having to glue tiny strips of perfectly curled lashes to your eyes on a regular basis, there's an even better solution: semi-permanent lash extensions. These extensions are put on by a lash artist in a salon, and they are able to fashion the perfect lashes just for your eyes.

Recently, Heylee went to such a salon in the Nashville area called "Ooh La Lashes" and had a set of Classic Lashes put on by Jessie Law. There are 3 different varieties of lashes that are offered by Ooh La Lashes: Natural, Classic, and Volume. Natural lashes are described as "a lighter way to wear lash extensions for those who just want a little more thickness and volume." (Takes 90 minutes to apply) Classic is Jessie's most requested look. They are customized to fit the length, thickness, and curl that you want, with no mascara needed when you have them on. (3 hours to apply) The Volume lashes offer 70% more volume on your lash-line, but are still lightweight. Lashes will be fuller, darker, and perfectly curled, no mascara needed. (2.5-3 hours to apply)
Each set of lashes lasts from 2-4 weeks depending on the type you had done and how much make-up your wear. You don't need to get new extensions every couple of weeks, just a fill. What that means is that they just replace the pieces that have fallen out. And it doesn't take nearly as long to have them filled as it does to have them put on which is a bonus!

Jessie did an amazing job putting on these lashes, and Heylee has loved wearing them! She said it shortens the time that it takes her to get ready in the mornings because her lashes already look made-up, and it doesn't require any extra work to look great for the day!

If you are in the Nashville area, go see Jessie! She has offered a promotion of $100 off of a full set of eyelash extensions if you mention "Heylee B"! This is a seriously good deal and definitely something you should take advantage of sooner rather than later!

Many of you have met and become friends with Heylee over the years, and have probably even shopped out of the back of her SUV in the parking lot of Chick-Fil-A, and love her as much as we do! She is a beautiful person inside and out, and she never ceases to make us laugh and give us confidence in ourselves. She has worked hard over the years and 8 years of business proves she's got what it takes!

In honor of her being a radiant light to our days, and her golden birthday, we are offering a 1-day only 28% off the entire site discount! Don't miss out on this short offer, because it's a good one!

And make sure to give Heylee a birthday shout-out on Twitter (@heyleebfashion), Facebook (Lustatotenterrara Achten & Heylee B), and on her cell if you have it! She definitely deserves it!

]]> 2014-04-24T22:47:30-05:00 2014-04-24T22:47:32-05:00 #FFF Kate Harris After posting about last weeks' Fashion Fail Friday (#fff) winner, Kara Willis, we definitely found a few of you realizing that we were serious about giving away $25 gift cards to the girl with the best photo. We even told you that we would give away a 15% off discount to those who entered and ended up on the blog, but didn't win. However, this week we only received 1 entry...which made it easy for us to choose a winner. Or winners I should say.

We have 2 winners this week, because they are in the same photo! Ladies and gentlemen, please meet Brienne Barnes and her sister, Erin Love. Brienne sent us this photo, and we hope that Erin knew about it! When we first say this photo, we chuckled at the throwback to decades ago....then we laughed, but for a different reason. We laughed because the jean shirt that Brienne is wearing is now "back in style" (we use the term "style" very loosely) and can be found at your local Urban Outfitters, no collar and all. She is now a beautiful wife and mother to a couple very cute kids, so we hope that this $25 gift card is used well! (Get a cute date night outfit!)

As for Erin, she is a little less style-savvy in what looks to us like gym clothes. The super-bang hairstyle (I remember those days well) is also not uber-stylish, but back then, everyone had it! She has grown into not only a stylish woman today, but a stunning one at that! She will receive a $25 gift card to spend on herself as well, and she doesn't have to share it with her sister!

Thanks for sending us this photo ladies and for letting us take a quick glimpse into your past, and congrats on the win! Use your money wisely and know that there are tons of cute clothes and accessories just waiting to join your respective closets!

Remember that we are doing this giveaway every week, and all you have to do to enter to win is send us your pic at You can send your photo anytime until thursday at 9pm to be entered, and if you don't win the $25, you can still win 15% off your next purchase! It's really that easy!

Don't be shy! And thanks for the #FFF

]]> 2014-04-22T08:13:26-05:00 2014-04-22T09:56:44-05:00 Thanks to You, Dreams Do Come True Kate Harris Once upon a time, a girl named Heylee had a dream to open a boutique that carried all of the clothes and accessories she loved to wear. After earning 2 degrees in make-up design and cosmetology, she moved into a tiny 15x8 box above the 28000 Chartres Antique Mall in 28000 Chartres, TN in 2006, and opened HBH Profiles. Over the next year, Heylee expanded from her tiny space to a (slightly) larger space above that antique mall. Then, based on her popularity and demand from clients, she began to bring her store to people's homes for trunk shows. Those trunk shows would spend one fall on the road covering ground from St. Louis, MO, to Cheyenne, WY, to Santa Fe, NM, and everywhere in-between. That tiny little store had grown into Heylee B, and had shown the Western & Southern USA what it had to offer.

Over the past 8 years, thousands have seen and fallen in love with the styles offered by Heylee B, and we are thankful for those clients that have been faithful from the very beginning. You have brought us to where we are now...and we are so excited to be expanding again!

You may (or may's okay!) have noticed that we have a new website, new blog, and new inventory, along with a few new team members. We are working hard to bring you the most current styles and the best shopping experience that we can. Many of you have been shopping with us long enough that you may have even tried on clothes in Heylee's own house and have her personal cell number to call at any time. You have experienced something by buying at Heylee's store that is rare these days: personality. Heylee has cared about you more like a friend than a client which stands out. And many of you are friends!

While we grow and expand, we want you to thank you for your loyalty and your willingness to spread the word about Heylee B! You have been instrumental in the growth that we've been able to experience and we hope that you have been pleased. In the coming months and years, we hope to not only continue to bring you the freshest looks and styles, but the same personal attention to detail that Heylee has brought to you since the beginning.

Please continue to help us spread the word about Heylee B to your friends and family! We love making new friends and clients and are thankful for everything that you've helped us to become!

]]> 2014-04-18T07:33:32-05:00 2014-04-18T07:33:33-05:00 #FFF Kate Harris It's everyone's favorite day!! It's Fashion Fail Friday!

Last week, we encouraged you to upload and email your best fashion fail photos to us so we could laugh right along with you! Your prize? A $25 gift card to our store! We only had a few entries, which is good for those who entered, so picking a winner was simple.

Ladies and gentlemen, meet our first #FFF winner, Kara Willis! She set aside her fear and embraced the fail and we applaud her for it! She described this as her "gangsta days". We know the pic is a bit grainy (thanks non-digital photos), but she is rocking a serious 'do with that bandana! If you were to check out Kara's Instagram feed today, you will see that she's well out of those "gangsta days" and is a serious fashionista! She always looks great and we love that she is able to look back and laugh! (The pic on the right is Kara today...totally gorgeous, right?!)

Another notable photo (and 15% off winner) came from Kelly. We know that she's just a kid in this photo, but her epic use of Princess Jasmine costume jewelry, the splatter paint tank & shorts combo, and that awesome fanny pack are just too much. Thank you have given us many reasons to look back and laugh. Needless to say, Kelly grew out of this phase (but kept the fanny pack) and into the beautiful girl in the photo on the left!

Thanks for checking out our Fashion Fail Friday winner pics and be sure to send us your fashion fail photos so you can be entered to win! I mean really...who doesn't want $25 in free clothes & accessories!?!

]]> 2014-04-14T08:01:00-05:00 2014-04-14T08:35:18-05:00 She Wore It How? Kate Harris Every now and then we see a look on the cover of a magazine, in a Facebook photo, or just walking down the street that catches our eye. We love everything from the hat on her head to the shoes on her feet. We just can't get enough! But, as we stare at that person, and try to picture ourselves in that same outfit, we begin to wonder...

Would that really look good on me?

I bet their outfit was expensive...

What do I have in my closet that I could wear that with?

What would I wear that to?

You'd need a lot of confidence to be able to wear that...

These are all things that we've asked at one time or another, and we wanted to help break it down for you using two different looks worn by two different members of our Heylee B team. We will show you pictures they took at home, tell you how and why they wore it, and break down some of the cost.

First up is Heylee B owner and make-up artist, Heylee Achten. On a date our with her husband, she wore the No Lace Like Home skirt ($48 at Heylee B), A Piece of Aztec top ($36 at Heylee B), and the Take Me To Panama hat ($38 at Heylee B). For around $125, Heylee created a head-to-toe look with separates that can be both worn together and on their own. This gives some extension to her closet because they can be worn so many ways. She loves the crop top especially saying, "It's one of those things that no one thinks that they can wear. But I think when paired with a high-waisted skirt or jeans, it's a modest, but chic, look that is really great!" As far as hats go..."I love hats! Everyone needs a couple of good hats!"

Next we have our stellar photographer (and co-owner of Blue Vinyl Creative in Nashville), Jessica Gann. She was headed to a photo shoot job on Saturday and she chose to wear the Hippy By Day top ($28 at Heylee B) styled with a black bandeau, black leggings, brown leather booties, and a fringe beaded necklace from her own closet, saving money. She added the Romeo & Juliet purse ($48 at Heylee B) on her way out the door. Her opinion? "I love looks from the 70's which made this top a perfect addition to what I already own. The bag is just cool!"

We hope that seeing Heylee and Jess in their own looks was helpful for you! We want everyone to feel confident in not only their own clothes and style, but in their own skin. Each of us has a unique style that fits our personalities and our budgets. So get creative! Buy whole looks or add pieces to what you already have! Either way, embrace your style and be confident in who you are!

We all have from our way back past (or maybe our more recent past) that make us laugh and wonder, "What was I thinking?!" And for those of us that were children of the 80s and 90s specifically, we definitely have no shortage of visuals of our hideous fashion fails. From our heinous Cindy Lauper "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" outfits, to the epic feathered bangs and perms that elicited way too many cans of hairspray for mile-high hair, and everything in between. We thought our style fashion forward then, and can only look at those photos now and cringe. And laugh. And cringe again.

So, we at Heylee B have decided to embrace the fail and invite other people to laugh along with us by creating a new, weekly blog called "Fashion Fail Fridays". We are asking you to email us your epic fashion fail photos (the hair, the clothes, the make-up...everything!) each week, and our favorites will be featured on the blog for all to see. As an added bonus, our favorite "fail" will be given a $25 gift card to Heylee B to help make sure that you don't find yourself in bad fashion again! The others featured on the blog will be given a 10% off discount that they can use at Heylee B any time.

On top of the weekly blog, we invite you to help us get these fashion fails trending by uploading your photos to Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook with the hashtag #FFF & #Heyleeb. We also encourage you to get your friends, family, and social media networks to join in the laughter and upload their own photos! I mean really...who doesn't love a good laugh!

In honor of this new blog kicking off today, the Heylee B team (and some of their gracious family members) have submitted a few of their own fashion fails for you all to giggle at and enjoy. In the spirit of great fashion at Heylee B, these are for you!

First up is our photographer Jess. She loves a good thrifty find with a Bohemian flare, but she definitely missed the mark with this hat/kimono combo. Trust us when we say that this girl is seriously one of the most fashion savvy ladies out there and she doesn't have misses like this very often!

This next photo is a two-for! We have our creative director, Kate, and her sister, Amy (one of our glorious models), in this one. Kate would be the one in purple, and Amy is the one that looks like a little boy. (She had a phase). There is so much wrong with this photo on so many levels, we don't even know where to start. Just know that it was probably taken around 1995...which is probably explanation enough.

And we saved the best for last. This is Kate's mother, Karen. When this photo was submitted for us, she announced that even though this picture was taken in the early 80s, she was pretty sure that everything she was wearing can now be found at Urban Outfitters. (It's probably true). But we just have to comment on that hair...alll that feathering.....and the perm. At least the red is real! (Love you Mom!)
